Built in the 1970’s by an Austrian mason, the space has been beautifully renovated to incorporate the best of both worlds, all of the modern, classic look of a renovation while also keeping the character that makes the Grand so unique in it’s space!
Yannick has been the host and Innkeeper at The Grand since 2012. Besides his formal education at Cite Collegiale, Yannick has also worked at the French Embassy, L’Aubergiste, and Le Belvédère as a sous chef. He spends much of his time foraging through the woods and fishing on local lakes and rivers, always returning with a new discovery. Yannick is also a passionate environmentalist and volunteer, dedicating his time to faraway locations like the jungles of the Amazon, the forests of Madagascar, and the spice fields of India. His gentle demeanour and passion for food will be on full display when he welcomes you to the Wakefield Grand.
Frank was exposed to a lot of different foods growing up, In French culture, food is everywhere and in his family, and they always cooked and created together. This is where Frank’s love of food, its history, and most importantly cooking stems from.
His vision is simple yet effective; use only the freshest and finest quality ingredients with as many locally sourced options possible.
We have created a kitchen that is warm and inviting and truly feels like home to me. The combination of our beautiful kitchen, the best local ingredients and 25 years of experience in every corner of the culinary world has creates the perfect recipe for me to ensure your meal is one you will never forget.
